6^th Taicang German-Chinese Table Tennis Friendship Tournament 2023

On behalf of the German Centre Shanghai, we are pleased to report on the successful conclusion of the 6th German-Chinese Table Tennis Friendship Tournament, which took place on December 10, 2023, in Taicang. The event was a great success and a significant example of the strong sports and cultural cooperation between Germany and China.

This year’s tournament marked a special milestone, as it welcomed back international players, including participants from Germany and other European countries, after the pandemic-related restrictions. This return to international competition, following the 2019 event, when world champion Jörg Roßkopf served as the tournament’s sporting ambassador, was a symbolic moment that highlighted the enduring strength of this sporting friendship.

In addition to exciting and fair competition at the highest level, the tournament offered a platform for intercultural and economic exchange. Players and organizers took the opportunity to interact and build new connections that extended beyond the sport itself. The event concluded with a celebratory dinner, where participants gathered in a festive atmosphere to reflect on the day and strengthen friendships.

The tournament not only contributed to sporting understanding but also promoted economic and cultural exchange between Germany and China. Company visits, including at the German Centre Shanghai, as well as cultural excursions, provided participants with a comprehensive insight into German-Chinese cooperation.
